Lachlan Mackinnon Patterson began his culinary career at the Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to Paris in 1999 to earn a CAP from the Ecole Gregoire-Ferrandi. He apprenticed under Benoit Guichard at the Michelin two-star Jamin and worked with chef Guy Guilloux at La Taupiniere in Brittany. After returning to the U.S. in 2001, he joined The French Laundry, where he met future business partner, Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey.
Together, they opened Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, CO, in 2004, inspired by Italy's frascas. Their venture received Colorado’s first Michelin Star in 2023. They also launched Scarpetta Wines in 2007, producing Friulian-inspired varietals now distributed across the U.S. and Canada.
Frasca Hospitality Group has since expanded to include five acclaimed restaurants, such as Pizzeria Alberico, Tavernetta, and Sunday Vinyl, with Tavernetta Vail set to open in 2024. Mackinnon Patterson has earned multiple accolades, including Food & Wine’s Best New Chef in 2005 and the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest in 2008. Frasca Food and Wine has also won several James Beard Awards for wine service and hospitality, with additional recognitions across their other establishments.
